Vetting the Field

You?ll want to find a doctor who fits with your goals and expectations. It?s usually best to first meet the candidates to assess their qualifications, personality, approach and experience before arriving at a decision. The kinds of questions you might consider asking your prospective pediatrician and other considerations include:

- What type of pediatric qualifications do they have? Are they certified by the ABP and/or a member of the AAP?

- If you are aware of certain health concerns in your family or with your pregnancy, you may want to ask about qualifications in pediatric subspecialty areas?

- How can they be contacted after hours or during an emergency? Are they available by phone? Who covers for them when they are not available?

- If you have minor questions what is the best time and method to reach them?

- Does the pediatrician talk with and care about the children, and not just the parents?

- Does the pediatrician seem to know about current issues and advances in pediatric medicine?

- Does the pediatrician have ?chemistry? with the children as well as the parents?

- Does the pediatrician appear knowledgeable about current issues and advances in pediatric medicine?

In addition, you?ll probably want to know about availability and cost of services.

Rocky Point — Mexican resort is growing but still greeting

Rocky Point — Mexican resort is growing but still greeting

Deseret News (Salt Lake City), Mar 9, 2008 by Pat Reavy Deseret Morning News

PUERTO PENASCO, Mexico — Nestled in the upper corner of the Sea of Cortez, the once sleepy fishing village of Puerto Penasco, or Rocky Point as it’s known by touristas, continues to transform itself into a major Mexican vacation destination.

But now that the hotels, luxury condos and time shares are being constructed at a wicked pace, what city leaders, merchants, restaurant and club owners hope for most is that tourists will keep coming.

Three years ago, I traveled to Rocky Point and witnessed firsthand a major hotel and recreation boom. In January, I returned to the resort city in the state of Sonora.

A host of new hotels and condos sits along the shoreline from Cholla Bay through Las Conchas and North Beach. A drive through Old Port shows there is even big construction in Rocky Point’s oldest regions. Across from the Sunset Cantina, older hotels such as the Penasco Del Sol have upgraded to compete with the newer, more modern high-rises on Sandy Beach.

Large new homes in Cholla Bay are being built, many of them costing six figures.

Tourists can now bring their golf clubs as the first 18-hole golf course in Rocky Point, Las Palomas, is open and ready for visitors to try out the green links in the middle of the arid desert.

There were 44,875 residents in Puerto Penasco as of the 2005 census. The large majority of them live within relatively close proximity to the coast. Puerto Penasco is actually a large area, nearly 3,800 square miles. But the farther inland into the Sonoran Desert one goes, the less populated the region becomes.

A sunny getaway is almost always guaranteed in Puerto Penasco, an area that receives an average of 2 inches of rain per year. In the summer, day temperatures can rise into the ’90s. During the winter months, the highs are still well above freezing.

But some merchants and cab drivers say they have noticed a decrease in American tourists in recent months. One cab driver, who didn’t want his name published, said he knows a regular visitor from Boston who used to travel to Puerto Penasco almost monthly. Now, it has been several months since his last visit.

The cab driver blamed the tourism slowdown on America’s mortgage crisis. An article in the January edition of Join Us, a Puerto Penasco monthly tourist paper, agreed U.S. financial woes in 2007 were felt south of the border.

Epifanio Salido Pavlovich, head of the Sonora Commission on the Promotion of Tourism, told the paper the economic situation in the United States “had a strong impact” on Penasco. But he also noted Rocky Point had 1.7 million foreign visitors in 2007, up 11 percent from the previous year. About 80 percent of those tourists were from Arizona, he said. Not a surprise, considering Penasco has also been referred to as Arizona’s beach getaway. The drive from downtown Phoenix to Rocky Point is about 3 1/2 hours.

Add the American visitors with vacationers from other parts of Mexico, and Penasco had about 2.1 million tourists in 2007, Pavlovich told the paper.

Still, the cab driver told me that American dollars are needed in Rocky Point.

“It’s not about one being better than the other,” he said. “We need each other.”

Mexico needs the money tourists are willing to spend. And Americans need a place to get away, he said.

Another possible concern is the ever increasing rules at the border, including the new passport law expected to go into effect later this year. Penasco was located for decades in what was known as the “free zone” between Mexico and the United States, meaning those driving into town did not need a special car permit, visas or a picture ID with proof of citizenship, although it was always recommended to carry those items as a precaution.

The free-zone laws, however, are about to expire as the U.S. government tightens security around the Mexican and Canadian borders

Smart Auto Insurance

Smart Auto Insurance by Drew Massie
in Law / National, State, Local (submitted 2010-06-23)

Drivers should compare rates from different auto insurance companies before committing to one carrier. Smart shoppers can also take the lowest quotes and ask their preferred company to meet those rates. Even if drivers believe they are already paying the lowest rates, they should periodically check other companies to make sure they aren’t overpaying for the same coverage.

There are many factors that can affect a person’s auto insurance rates. Generally, drivers with more tickets or accidents on their records will pay more than drivers with clean records. The auto insurance companies classify these drivers as risky drivers and therefore require them to pay more. However, drivers who have improved records over time can eventually pay normal rates. Other factors that can affect insurance prices include:

*Age: drivers under the age of 25 pay more for auto insurance
*Geography: city or urban drivers will usually pay more than rural drivers or those in less populated areas because of an increased likelihood of accidents; drivers who live in high crime areas are also considered risky
*Vehicle: newer cars cost more to insure, as do cars that are more likely to be stolen
*Miles: cars that are driven many miles per year will usually pay higher premiums.

Certain personal factors can affect insurance, including gender and marital status. Women and married drivers are considered less likely to have an accident and can often benefit from lower premiums based upon these generalizations. Some companies will offer discounts to multiple drivers within the family or to families who purchase other types of insurance from the same company such as homeowners or life insurance

I could see charred, burning figures that used to be men; ON THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY A VETERAN RECALLS THE BATTLE FOR GOOSE GREEN Tomorrow is the 25th anniversary of the Battle of Goose Green, a pivotal moment in the Falklands War. Midland soldier John Geddes tells NIGEL GREEN of the incredible courage he saw that day – and reveals darker secrets about the conflict

THE wooden building was in flames as John Geddes kicked the door in.

Seconds earlier, the Parachute Regiment corporal and his comrades had lobbed six phosphorous grenades through the windows.

In more peaceful times, the building had been a schoolhouse. Now, it was home to a squad of Argentinian soldiers.

The grenades had exploded, showering the men inside with burning shrapnel.

The scenes John was about to witness would stay with him for the rest of his life.

“I could see silhouettes of men staggering around in all the flames and smoke,” recalls the Hereford father-of-three.

“I could also see charred, burning remains of figures that used to be men.

“It was obvious they were all either dead or dying. I knew it was time for me to get away from building.”

The attack on the schoolhouse was the final moment of the Battle of Goose Green.

Around 400 men from the Second Battalion of the Parachute Regiment had managed to defeat a garrison of 1,500 Argentinians.

But the victory was not without cost. The Paras lost 17 men that day, including some of John’s best friends.

Then aged 27, he had travelled 8,000 miles to a group of islands most British people had never even heard of until the Argentinians invaded in 1982.

The son of a building contractor, John was raised in a terraced house in the Byker area of Newcastle.

He left school at the age of 15 with no qualifications and after initially working as a factory apprentice before landing a dream theatre job as an assistant stage manager.

“I had always wanted to be an actor,” says John

CHEEP CHEAP!

CHEEP CHEAP!

THE New Year sales signs have only just come down, now up go the ones offering Easter bargains.

All week there’s been gloom and doom about the credit crunch and the bleak outlook for mortgages.

With stores also feeling the pinch, they’re desperate to get us spending what’s left of our cash. And the good news is they’re having to offer massive bargains

The basics. What

The basics. What exactly is an email sign-off?

Your sign-off is the part of your email — with your name, company, phone, etc. — that comes right after your text message.

To be honest, I find most email sign-offs pretty boring. (And I find some of them pretty annoying!)

Most often, however, I see lost opportunities.

In this article, we’ll be taking a look at how just a few simple changes to your email signature can make a BIG difference to your business.

Let’s explore….

1 – No sign-off, no results

I think it’s incredible — since most of the emails I get are from coaches and small business owners — but I get at least a couple of emails a day with absolutely no sign-off at all.

That’s right. No company name, and no contact information. Emails sometimes even arrive without the sender’s last name!

This is not only a waste of a perfect marketing opportunity, it’s pretty bad business. There’s nothing professional about a business email without basic business information.

2 – Start with the basics

Every email you send out should include basic information about you and your company:

* Your name (first and last)

* Company Name

* Business phone

* Email address

Tip:

Why include your email address here, when the reader can see it at the top of the email? Simply because it’s easier for the reader to have all of your contact information in one place — especially if he decides to add it to his address book or contact manager.

A basic email signature might also include:

* Your title or business designation

* Company logo and/or tag line

* Your photo

* Fax and/or cell phone number

* Website address

Tip:

If you include any graphics (photo, logo, etc.) be sure to use small files that will download quickly and easily for the reader.

It benefits the mind,

It benefits the mind, body, and soul as a whole, however for this papers purpose I will separate the components into the benefits related to psychological, philosophical, and spiritual elements of the human being. These will be based on the literature pertaining to mindfulness meditation specifically and what has been discussed in a variety of research studies.

Physiological Benefits

The literature discusses an immense amount of physiological benefits derived from mindfulness meditation. To list and discuss all of them is beyond the scope of this paper; however I will discuss some of the main physical benefits shown throughout the empirical literature. First, the physiological changes that have been noticed when practicing meditation such as decreased heart rate, breathing and the lowering of blood pressure has been termed the ?relaxation response? by Benson (1975). These changes can of course be extremely beneficial to those individuals needing to escape the daily stress and chaos of society.

Super challenge for top athletes

Super challenge for top athletes

0 Comments | Taranaki Daily News; New Plymouth, New Zealand, Jul 27, 2010

Taranaki’s endurance athletes have something to aim for next year.

Organisers of Taranaki’s three premier endurance events – the 153km Round the Mountain cycle ride, the 3.6km Flannagan Cup swim and the 42.2km Mountain to Surf marathon will band together for the first time.

The result – a Taranaki Super Challenge. The challenge will be open to competitors who complete all three full events in 2011.

Neale Parkinson, race director for the Mountain to Surf marathon, speaking on behalf of the Super Challenge, said all three events were popular long-standing fixtures on the sporting calendar in their own right.

“All annually attract a huge array of competitors,” he said.

“Many of our local competitors actually almost see these events as a Taranaki rite of passage.

“For a number of years, the concept of the Super Challenge has been mooted within endurance circles.

“We’ve now decided to take it to the next step and make it a reality.”

Parkinson said the challenge, while a major undertaking for those up for it, was definitely possible. “Logistically, it’s straightforward.

“The infrastructures already exist in the various events and, from the participants’ point of view, the events are nicely spaced over a seven-week period from the initial mid-January cycle,” Parkinson said

Many of the link requests that I

Many of the link requests that I do get are from poker sites that are totally irrelevant to my site’s content. Most of the sites that I would like to link to don’t respond. Some sites supposedly do respond, but, when I search their sites, I can’t find my link anywhere. It is just so totally and completely frustrating.

Link popularity is a major factor in search engine rankings. How does someone like me, who despises reciprocal linking, go about improving my site’s link popularity?

Fortunately for me, I have discovered two ways to do exactly that. They are blogging and submitting articles.

I added the Work At Home Ideas Blog(http://www.affiliateutopia.com/blog/) to my website two weeks ago.
